He began his career as an L.A bouncer in the late 80’s - anything to be amongst the culture he loved. Soon enough he sniffed out the likes of Cypress Hill, and eager as ever to expand his knowledge of the Hip Hop industry, he secured a job as the tour manager of House of Pain on their ’92 tour.

Hawaiian Shirt Creator Dies

Passing of a Pioneer.

Alfred Shaheen, the creator of the Hawaiian shirt, died today aged 86. In 1948, when Shaheen set up his first shop, shirts were invariably plain in colour and boring, a hangover of sedate wartime styles perhaps. He pushed the boundaries of fashion and also, arguably, committed one of its first crimes with his invention: the mass produced Hawaiian shirt.

Exquisite Menace

Vulgar? Ostentatious? Indulgent? Symbols of all that's wrong with high end fashion? All of these things ring true of these, we think. And rarely do we celebrate such things. In fact, we refuse to. But in this case, we were coaxed into it by those two cunning serpents of design, Gucci and Louis Vuitton. Yes, we know, these gas masks are meaningless and vile, but we couldn't resist. We succumbed to the surface allure of fashion, to the novelty and extravagance of it all, to temptation itself.

We hang our heads in shame. We deserve expulsion. We have sinned.

Andy 'shredder' Warhol

Andy Warhol, one of the greatest snowboarders of his era, has had a range of Burton gear made in his honour for the 07/08 season.

Okay so he didn’t snowboard, but such was his capacity to constantly reinvent himself and change with the times that it would come as no surprise if, alongside his Marilyns and Maos, galleries around the world hung pics of Warhol spinning high above parks or carving lines into the Alaskan back country. Either that or you’d have found him in the bar at the top of the lift with an entourage of impossibly good looking people. In Burton gear.
